Bucephalandra sp. 'White'
Bucephalandra sp. 'White' is a rare and visually striking cultivar of the Bucephalandra genus, known for its pale green to creamy-white new growth, which gives the plant a luminous, high-contrast appearance in aquascapes. The “white” coloration typically appears at the leaf tips or new leaves and is a result of variegation or reduced chlorophyll, making it highly sought-after by collectors and advanced aquascapers. The leaves are generally small to medium-sized, elliptical, and may show subtle iridescence under aquarium lighting. As with all Bucephalandra, it is an epiphyte, requiring attachment to rocks or driftwood, and its rhizome must stay above the substrate to prevent rot.It grows very slowly, with new leaves forming every few weeks, depending on conditions. Optimal growth occurs under medium to high lighting, stable CO₂ injection, and consistent dosing of micronutrients, especially iron and magnesium, which support healthy coloration. Because of its sensitivity to fluctuating conditions and its reduced chlorophyll content, Bucephalandra sp. 'White' is less tolerant of low-light or nutrient-poor setups compared to hardier Buce species.
